My name is Adam Byron.
I am a biochemist interested in how cells of our body move and communicate with each other. I am working to understand why these processes go awry in cancer.
For multicellular life to exist, cells must stick together. Cells of the body must stick to the right cells using the right molecules in the right place at the right time. These events are tightly controlled in order for an organism to grow, develop and survive. When cells adhere incorrectly, disease often results. I am interested in working out the networks of molecules that control cell adhesion and how we can stop them going wrong in diseases like cancer.
